Two incidents in the same day- first, I was coming up out of the McPherson Square metro and the guy behind me on the escalator took went out of his way to brush up against me as he passed. He muttered something about wanting to do something to some part of me that was apparently juicy. Pissed off, I was about to say something, then thought of my partner telling me you never know who’s crazy and who might really hurt you for talking back. This guy struck me as more than a little off, so I refrained.
About ten minutes later I was picking up some things at CVS and I noticed this guy sort of following me through the aisles. I stared at him and he leered and said something like “hey sexy heeeeey” while making weird gestures (is that like a mating dance? Why do men do that?). At this point I was fed up and thought that if I should watch my back because men might go crazy on me for talking, then men should watch their backs for women who might go crazy on THEM. It took all my courage but I marched around the aisle to him, got right in his face, looked him dead in the eye and hissed, “One day, you are going to fuck with someone who is *this close* (with hand gesture near his face) to losing it.” I made super crazy eyes at him for a millisecond, turned around, and walked calmly home.
